I hate to say I told you so, But I told you if I could do it you surely could.

Who has any experience with deisel cars? I'm trying to track down my dream car(1983 Nissan Sentra Deisel) and am wondering if diesels run at all during winter. Also, if anybody knows of and Sentra diesels being sold, you might have a buyer!

Winter? Sure, just depends on how cold your winter is and how much effort you want to put into starting it.

A coworker had a Ford tempo diesel that got around 60-65 mpg. Like a moron, he sold it. Use a block heater in the winter and proper fuel or additives. I have a block heater on my gasoline truck and love it.

They'll run. Diesels don't like the cold, they start hard and idle rough until they warm up. Do some research figure out I'd the engine your looking at has glow plugs or a grid heater or block heater of any kind of not a block heater is definitely a good idea, get a good one. And run winter blend diesel in our during the winter or put a fuel additive in it and keep the tank full so the fuel doesn't gel during the winter because that freaking sucks. Trust me....

Because you generally don't replace floats unless they have a hole in them or they're broken would be my best guess.

Its been my experience that after being in a car for 30 yrs floats have a tendency to disintegrate upon removal...

Unless its a IH or something pre-70's, they have metal floats...

Glow plug- Diesels do not have spark plugs. Some have a plug w/ a heating element on it, to help the engine when it is starting. Turn the ignition key on, glow plug heats for a couple of seconds, helps that first slug of fuel light when the engine cranks over.
