Okay, friends. I am trying to set up the wireless router so I can use my lap top in my home. I am a computer idiot. I am hung up on the very first step of the directions and I am almost too embarrassed to ask..............

Step 1: "Unplug the power to turn off your modem."

Must not have a power button. Just pull out the cord from the back of the router.

One thing it means is that you won't come down malaria if you drink it regularly! Whew! That's one less thing to worry about in N. Ill.

Sadly, I wasn't sure what a modem was. I figured it out and actually have my laptop working. The bad news......now my desk top computer isn't connected to the internet.

I may have to order some; there are so many mosquitos here sometimes that it seems they could just pass the birds along like crowd surfers at a concert.

I plan to put up a bat box for that.

Winds, they should have included another ethernet cord in the router box, if not you'll need to buy one long enough to reach from the router to your desktop pc.

Or ask the IT guy at work for one he doesn't need. (take cake; it's hard to catch on the web)

OMG!!!

I have just successfully got my lap top working in my home AND my desk top. Yes, it was an ethernet cable.

I think I'm going to go buy a lottery ticket. I never, in a million years, thought I'd be able to connect all this.

But it has a password. Doesn't that keep anyone from using one's router?
