Ok, I have another military rifle question...
Why do rifles/carbines for Calvary & mounted troops have the sling swivels on the side, and ones issued to infantry are mounted on the bottom?

Cavalry saddle ring weapons are side mounted to keep tthe rifle from hitting the horse w the muzzle causing it to be pushed up and off the pommel. Infantrymen carry em on the bottom to keep the side locks from diggin into their backs on long walks

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.
