Most beer I know about has a definite experation date. For good reason. I know first hand, yuk !

My guess, because of the abuse in battle the rifle would take.

also possible. when in the heat of battle, it may be more likely to grab aany part of the rifle if you were running and fell or crawling. perhaps it was an extra measure to prevent burns to the hand..

It really depends on how it was stored, it won't hurt you. You can take a sip if not good throw it away.

Its kinda like my favorite snack located by the man in the little boat! If it smells bad, dont partake!

If it smells like beer, taste it, if it doesnt taste like skunk, drink some more, if it does taste like skunk, regift it to someone you dont like!

Re: Heat shield on military style rifle- Barrel gets HOT with prolonged fire. Military rifles have bayonets. Want to grab the front of a really hot rifle?

If guns kill . How come you never see them brought to trail to defend their actions, on why they did it ?

The same reason that motor vehicles involved in accidents/crimes are not prosecuted for their actions...
