That one I don't know. I've only been a member since sometime last year I think. I believe the oldest post I've seen has been from 2009...

I checked Notdku's profile. It said his join date was 03-18-2007, so I'm going with that.

I can't find any posts from way back then. Did they all get deleted or something?

Oh, never mind.

I did notice that a lot of posts/threads are missing once you go back a certain time.

You'll have to PM Notdku on that. I don't know.

i forgot to add a 4-inch long block of 2 x 4 underneath the support in order to account for the thickness of the horizontal shelf support.

Attachment 66055

IMPORTANT: USE 3-INCH SCREWS!!! tip for easy installation, drill some pilot holes into your shelf support system (on a diagonal) and start the screws BEFORE you try and hang it on the wall stud. DO NOT DRILL PILOT HOLES INTO WALL STUD!

MAKE SURE SCREWS ARE TIGHTENED ALL THE WAY........NO GAP BETWEEN SHELVING SUPPORT AND WALL STUD.

screw 1 and 3 together (if you angle 3 just so, you won't have to cut anything off. just leave enough room for your screws to bite into the under piece). then add 2 to the wall stud, put 4 screws into it. 2 @ top and 2 @ bottom. now move the "1 and 3" partial triangle over to the stud, and attach 1 directly to the stud, and attach 3 to the 4-inch block.

do the others the same way (dependin on shelf length), and your shelf support system is complete. now all you have to do is add the "decking (4.)." space it like you want it, and then screw it down to the horizontal support (yellow 1), and add a couple of pieces underneath (5.) in order to keep it from bowing in between shelf supports.
I think you are volunteering to come do this project for me.

Yeah, the posts only go back so far. I was desperately looking for a post I made early on here. The posts didn't go back that far. But it was a really funny one and I wanted to send it to the recipient again. LOL

HMMMMMM, northern illinois....................??? an all expenses paid whitetail hunt for a quick 2 - 3 hour job, you got yourself a deal. that's gonna be one HELLUVAN expensive 2 x 4 "garage shelf!"

i just hate to see peeps spend jack just because it's "more convenient." it ends up costin in the long run, andju coulda spent less (or a lil more) to get a better product.

I don't think you understand how limited my abilities are.

I'm doing the best I can. A 2-3 hour job for you would probably be a 10 hour job for me with a lot of screw ups because I lack the knowledge and skill.

I need simple.......really simple. Or I need to hire someone....which I can't afford right now.

You're breaking my spirit and shaking my confidence.

I'm sure what I have in mind isn't the best solution but I need to find something I can actually do.
