I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

That seems a little extreme...

Winds, I have not made mead, but wanted to. Since I went on the wagon it doesn't make sense to try it. I have made beer though. I also wanted to make chestnut beer with honey. (chestnut beer is gluten free). But again, the alcohol thing gets in the way.
I have honey in my tea- I drink about 2 quarts or so of green tea a day. Just a bit of honey though-not like Southern Sweet Tea. That stuff is nasty IMO. I also use honey in baking sometimes, but I don't bake as much as I would like to and some people in my family aren't as adventurous as I am.
As for what I use to dispense honey in my kitchen? A 5 gallon bucket with a honey gate on it. 5 gallons is 60 lbs of honey (12 pounds per gallon. I do sell honey as well, so I can fill containers as people wait if they bring their own.) Pic is of my honey buckets .
(Edit) Ooopps that pic is of an abandoned house in the neighborhood. Maybe I'll get the honey buckets later.

Never had mead that I liked, but love my honey in tea and coffee. What is the appeal of sugar with enough tea in it to keep it liquid? Yea, nasty. I put honey in my pancake and waffle mix, with a splash of vanilla and dash of cinnamon.
