Aluminum baseball bat & headlight are all you will need. Don't forget to double whack 'em.

Of all the suggestions, I think the pellet rifles, cross bows, and archery would work the best. Pellet rifles require the least practice, but on a raccoon, you would need to get really close. Traps work fine on a farm or ranch, but not in town though, because you would be catching the neighborhood cats as well.
Not that I care about cats, but some other people do, and then you would be in big trouble with the SPCA.

This might work on Mississippi 'coons, but out-of-state (non-Miss.) 'coons are a lot smarter than to let you get close enough.

So what? Return the cat, or take it to the shelter. Just make sure the trap is on your property.
I really think the best thing would be to call animal control.

I have an idea...learn their language, gain their trust then infiltrate their group. Mate with their females and eventually you will become the leader, then, just tell them to leave and they have to listen, ya know, because you're their leader... Either that or you can use them to do your bidding, your own personal "coon squad"

This was some Memphis 'coons, the first one inside and badmouthing my cats. Ever seen six grown cats staring down a indoorified coon? If looks could kill, that 'coon would've been a stain, before i whacked him.
Biggest 'coon i ever saw was about 30 pounds & sliding down the roof at Memphis Pizza Cafe towards a dumpster of delight.

Some of the air rifles out there are awesome!
Saw guys on the outdoor channel hunting wild boar in Texas - - - I was impressed dropped a 600# boar at 50 yards! One shot, then showed a half load of air and dropped the neighbors cat right into the trash can!
I've been thinking of getting one for myself. I know from experience that a skunk at about 50 feet will explode when a 223 passes thru - - - back yard stunk for about a month!

Ar rifles- I use a Sheridan Blue Streak in 5mm. Will kill a squirrel deader'n 4 o'clock at 50 yards. Head shot on a coon at 10 yards- no problem.
