Hard to see in the photos, but those two square pegs in the top are not glued in, they come out, for potential replacement of that black rod, which is a glass tube.
I also specialize (among other things), in picture framing, using only quality hardwood, no metal fasteners, and clear lacquer only, no stain.
Yeap , I meant you , simplicity , minimal and very clean ,((ART)..!

That's really nice! I've always been good with technique but horrible with imagination. Your chess set has both.

It's a great blend of styles, and the Japanese influence shows. I think all "modern" woodworking and architecture for that matter is ultimately Japaneses inspired? Again, clean lines and flat surfaces. Even with the interior of traditional Japaneses homes everything is clean lines and flat surfaces. There is very little clutter or ornate decorations. And I've always liked shaker style furniture myself.

I try to stick with traditional southern style furniture simply because I love the style and history behind it, and not much of it remains. Their isn't even a proper term for southern furniture and it gets very little attention but that's because so little remains. Antiques didn't fair nearly as well here as in the north and west because of the heat, humidity, insects, and that SOB Sherman. If you've ever seen Gone with the Wind and what Tara looked like after the war then you'll understand what happened to a lot of southern antique furniture. Not to mention the carpetbaggers after the war.

Interesting. See, I wasn't even aware there WAS a southern style!

Oh darn. Lived in Bloomington for 5 years and didn't see any beauties there so we moved to Dallas/Carrollton, Tx. Oh well...

Only event I've considered is the Trap/Skeet by bobski. Maybe...

I love the Wine Bottle holder - simple but awesome - and practical too!

It looks like you are very talented at what you do and any "beautiful lady" would love something you make by hand.

I know what she likes and really , it could go either way..! What to do.?
this the roll of the dice, brother.

before i spent much time on a hand made item for a woman, i think it would have to be a fairly long committed relationship.

why?

i had a good friend who hand made a work of art for a girl he dug in jr college....and IT FREAKED HER OUT! she thought he was a stalker and never talked to him again....LMAO! still leaves he ROFLMAO every time i think about it!

stick to simple store bought stuff if its casual.....

then when you get to know her VERY well, ask if she would like for you to draw her nude....

I would personally appreciate something sentimental and hand made by a man I am with. I'm not particularly materialistic, though some women are. I lost almost everything I owned once and the things I miss the most are the family heirlooms, photos, and meaningful gifts from friends and family.
