I'm currently residing out of state until late January comes around. My official residence is in Wisconsin, I'm staying in Minnesota over break. In the mean time, I would like to buy a handgun. But here is the deal, I want to buy a gun online and shipped to Minnesota. I looked up rules and regulations and it seems as though I need to have it shipped to a FFL dealer in Wisconsin.
Would there be any issues if I have it shipped to a FFL dealer near the boarder in Wisconsin, pick it up there, and bring it to Minnesota? |

That is something you need to check out with Minnesota law. I would not think there would be an issue, but I would check with a local sheriff's office. __________________ From C3Shooter:

Neither Wisconsin or Minnesota is particularly gun friendly so I'd check with the law - for sure. When I lived in Minnesota (years ago) they had a waiting period then... |

Unless you hold a Federal Firearms License, you may only purchase a handgun in the state of your residence. (Federal law) Some of this will be decided by WHERE your legal residence is located. (While on active duty, I have had 3 legal residences AT THE SAME TIME for purposes of buying a gun). Gun will be shipped to a FFL in your home state, you do the things with him you would do if buying the gun from him. Next step, determine what laws you need to deal with in Minnesota. __________________ What we have heah is.... failure to communicate. | Liked 2 Times on 2 Posts

Your long term address is Wisconsin and you will be picking up the gun in Wisconsin,so you answered your own first question, now all you need to know is if you can transport a firearm from one state to another-I don't know, but my gut feeling is yes,you should be able to,we are one nation-not like you're going to Canada or something.I would do a good internet search, call some authorities in Minn.,or wait for a more knowledgable person than me on here to give you a better answer. |
