Do those IP hiding websites actually work or do they just delay the results?

Do you steal identities?

Anybody file income taxes online & use direct deposit?
Bad idea; at my old job, one of my regular tasks was to use state & federal income tax returns to find those account numbers used for direct deposit so my boss could have the guys sieze any funds in those accounts. They did this to satisfy sales tax liabilities, as far as i know. Sales tax is collected from the buyer at the time of sale & remitted to the state, not paid by the seller (made me feel better about it).

I file on paper. When that is no longer an option, i'll still have them mail a check to the address i file from.

With the age of the internet, privacy is gone.

Good point Ineff,
Easy to build a nice profile of a person based on this information.

Hello Ineffable,
I sincerely apologise if my "describe your town" thread was not such a good idea.
The thought that it could lead to bad karma didn't cross my mind when i first posted it

I try to do as little on the computer as possible. I have no MySpace or anything like that because someone can get all of your information and your picture, and make a new profile saying that they're you and make death threats to the White House, try to solicit sex with underage girls, or a number of other things. All I really do on the net is learn about different things through Wikipedia or post here on FTF.

I recently got my identity stolen so I know exactly what all is involved in straightening it out. I'd always assumed that because my credit sucked (fraud medical bill overcharges), that my identity would be safe-WRONG!!!!
