Glad to hear you're doing great now, that's really good news!

I had to have a disc removed between L4 and L5 and had the DLIF procedure done which was supposed to be the less invasive back surgeries for disc removal/fusion?,I ended up with 2 rods and 4 screws, along with 4 incisions.
It was quite an experience on my 47th birthday, since all I ever had done before that were my tonsils@5yrs. and wisdom teeth@18yrs. lol

Good luck and take care of that back!

My mom had all that done a year and a half ago. Posterior and anterior incisions, about 4 inch and 6 inch incisions. She was 80 at the time and doing well today.

That's good to hear Viking. Luckily on mine they didn't cut the muscle, just through the skin about 4 inches. They used a cable to go through the muscle and do it. I was only out of work about 2 weeks. I haven't fealt this good in over 5 years.

That was mom's second surgery. The first one was about 7 years ago and went well too, but her spine deteriorated in another place I think. She was at a point with this last one where if she didn't get cut she was destined for a wheelchair in pretty short order. She is fortunate because she is in pretty good health, and she was pretty active too, swimming most every day- though now it is twice a week and walking a mile every day (no camel though!). Not too bad for her age. She was down for 10 weeks after this last one, mainly due to her age and bone density (or lack thereof).

The important thing is to stay in good health, don't smoke and get plenty of exercise.

If it's too quiet you may be doing something wrong...
