I didn't get a cell phone until a couple of years after my kids were born. Back then they were about the size and weight of a brick, but that was a new one. One of my buddies was still using the briefcase sized one at the time.

Heck, when I was in high school our house had a "party line" which was several homes all with the same phone number. If your neighbor was talking on the phone you had to wait until they were done before you could use it.

Yep, we had a party line when I was a kid, too. I like to try to eavesdrop on the other people on the line. They always knew I was there.

When I moved into the town I live in now, all you had to do was dial the last 4 digits of someone's number to get them on the phone. As long as the first 3 numbers where the same as yours. I thought that was very weird. Now, to call the house right next door to you, one has to dial 11 numbers.

Well, yes, in a different way, though. And I think it would take more than one bag of chips.

You have to dial 11 digits there? We just started having to do that around here. Pain in the ass!
