That's a skinny wolf, looks more like a coyote to me, like the one that chased the Road Runner.
Looks like a juvenile wolf to me. They are pretty scrawny looking until they get their winter coat and put on a few pounds of fat. (at least that's what I tell my wife- LOL!)
