Is it common for domesticated dogs to kill coyote? I live in massachusetts. We have coyote around here but rarely ever see them. We see fishercats more often. When you hear one of those its time to bring the dogs in.

A pack of coyotes will kill dogs, and vice versa. If the numbers or size are in their side, one's going to get dead. They simply don't normally get along.

Considering most coyote travel in packs and are vicious hunters, that would be a good idea. Some states offer bounties on killing them.

Ive only ever seen one in my whole life. We live in a somewhat rural area but i grew up in the woods. I would always hear fishercats at night out my bedroom window. Their calls are ....... unique and creepy.

Slog. yotes tend to have smaller packs than wolves. Typically five to seven including young. Sometimes upto ten when the ranges are broad with little human intrusion. In the smaller packs they will hunt in twos. Larger in fours.

I wouldn't say its common at all.

Before we bought our land and got out of the city I never really saw them. But we have a lil over five hundred acres, chickens, horses, cattle, pig and now,,,, finally goats.

Borders are very territorial. Every animal we keep is seen by them as their responsibility. Yotes as you know are opportunists. A chicken or piglet, even a calf or colt is an inviting meal.

I believe that most dogs, even the larger more aggressive variety would tearass away from a hunting pair of yotes. They have nothing to loose from running. Yotes are powerful creatures driven by hunger. But give a driven dog a reason and they will tear a yote to pieces. Before my big dog passed I saw him tear into a quad of yotes that found one of our mares in a washout. But he was one of those special mutts that saw himself as the enforcer. It didn't matter what the threat was, or how mean it was, if it was a threat he was going to kill it.

Goats are God's automated forestry brush disposal tools. You can even rent them.
