Got a feeder? Put a chair nearby and sit real still, with your camera in the ready position so you don't have to move when they zip up to eat. Worked for me.

I havent tried lately, its been so stinkin hot that they havent been out very much

Years back, I was hiking around 4 Peaks east of Phoenix. As I was walking down a trail, I saw what I first though was some kind of large bug. It turned out to be a hummingbird making a bee line for my St. Louis Cardinals red ball cap. He flew up to me and stopped right above the brim of my cap. He then backed up about 18 inches in front of my face and hovered for a few seconds then took off around me.

I think he was pretty disappointed in what he thought was a really big red flower.

The little boogers will hover in front of my moms windows when she lets the feeder run dry. They don't do that if they can eat.
