I dropped three trees yesterday in my yard. The pine was leaning towards my shed, and away from the field (where pic was taken from) into the yard. It was hit by lightning several years ago, and had been slowly dying ever since. The top broke off a couple weeks ago, landing on top if the shed. It fell into the field, no problem.
The cottonwood was leaning toward my grandmas house, it fell the opposite direction. I had a 90 degree window to land it in without hitting any buildings or the kids playset, which happened perfectly.
This crap is nerve wracking, but I saved 1200-1500 dollars by not paying the pros.
