That was almost my first 1911, with an alloy frame (is yours alloy?). I skipped it and got the Springfield milspec because it was cheaper, steel frame, and more my style.

I think I would've been just as happy, or even happier, with the Colt. But I love my Springer.

Tripp those Springers are some very nice 1911s,Congrats on the milspec. I looked at several and almost pulled the trigger on Springer.

I ended up going with the stainless steel frame.
I was looking at the LW commanders with the alloy frames.Did some research and found that the teflon finish was chipping off some of the LW frames,it seems Colt has switched from the teflon to a cerakoted alloy frame. So I decided on steel,it only weighs 33.5 ounces and I'm very happy with the pistol.

Yeah, if they'd had that exact model there with a steel frame, I would own it now instead of the Springer. I was looking for the xse in government size, but was willing to go with the commander or officer.

I just didn't want alloy at the time because I had big dreams of putting thousands of rounds per month through it. As it is, I would've been just fine with an alloy frame... I've had my 1911 for about a year and a half and only about 2K rounds, maybe.
