OK, that last photo is the transmission case. For some reason the numbers and the logo are upside down (no, that is not me flipping the camera- they are actually upside down!)

That is the IHC logo though. I looked it up. Looks like it is from before 1950 though.

My nephew has restored tractors. He's got a John Deere from the 1920's that is pretty impressive.

Public land. I have access though (you can see my truck in the background of one of the pics). I am pretty sure I could snag it fairly easily.

Sounds like a good restoration project then.

Anybody have any ideas on forums that can help me ID this thing? It is an unusual model (to me at least) because of the very large front tires on a wide axle. Also the overhead valves.

Vikingdad, there are probably as many tractor forums as there are gun forums! i belonged to a couple years ago when i was doing research on a 1942 Ford 9N i bought to fix up. picked up lots of information and sources for parts. Stiener Tractor Parts is a good source for parts for old tractors.

I belong to an antique Caterpillar forum (I have a 1953 Model Twenty-Eight Cat), but I haven't found an IH one that is easy to use (like this one!).

Viking. There is an "old time tractor club" in my town. They go to just about every event around here with some small engines running and demoing they they restored. I will get you their web/email.
