Understand your gesture, but no one touches my car but me.
Anal, maybe but if there are scratches I'm to blame.

Cinder and I were talking about this a couple days ago. We saw a commercial where conoco employees washed a bunch of cars belonging to some people at a large office complex, a surprise public relations gesture I guess.

She said she likely wouldn't be okay with that. I said I would seriously not be okay with that at all.

And neither of our vehicles are even close to being as nice as yours.

And, the last time I let someone wash my car, it was 4 adults raising money for JDRF. They did such a crappy job, I actually told them that from now on, I'll happily make a donation and they can just keep their hands to themselves.

when my vehicles get washed, it's by me. i have certain ways that i want it done and would not want someone else doing it for me.

The last time I went to a benefit car wash, the girl washing the car in front of me dropped the sponge on the asphalt. She then proceeded to wash the car again, without even washing the sponge. It's hard telling how many little stones and such were sticking to the sponge. Eeeek

exactly! my method of washing starts at either at work with a high pressure washer or the car wash. i use the high pressure washer to get most of the dirt off before i hand wash the vehicle. this way, i'm not grinding all that dirt into the paintjob. when i hand wash the vehicle, i even use two buckets of soapy water so that i'm not just putting the dirt back onto the vehicle. i wash one panel or section at a time and rinse quite often.

i worked in paint and body shops for many years and managed a few and learned a few things about washing and detailing cars. i became very anal about how a car was washed and detailed just after putting a new paintjob on it. ain't nothing more sad than having to redo a paintjob because someone scratched it up from just washing it.
