I love the AZ high country. My friends and I spent a lot of time on the Moggollon Rim above Payson when I lived there.

Have you been to Mormon Lake Lodge?

Repair it? I could tell you how to just bypass it altogether. I kid, that's not a generally accepted practice...

Find a pietta black powder revolver for $150 new, thinking about grabbing it. Don't really need to spend the money though...

I don't remember the exact model, but it's one of the colt repros. It's tagged as a "Navy" model, but it's a .44.

Such a tight trigger guard though, and that trigger feels so low, almost like I'd be pulling it towards the knuckle on my middle finger instead of pulling it backwards.

Sweet, I like the hand guard but I prefer the Kukri design. Cold Steel makes an extended handle one that you can even throw. I chopped down a small tree w it. Only negative is I haven't figured out how to carry it and you must buy the guard separate. I truly wish I lived closer so you could try it. 1055 carbon steel is very tough.

They even have a samurai machete on sale right now for $20 approx.

Puma has an excellent reputation - I hope they live up to it for you !
