I heard if you cover the trap so they can't see they won't spray. I'm not sure if that works or nit. I've also heard they make great pets

I have had the wonderful experience of letting a skunk out of a live trap. Yes, I held a blanket in front of me, put it over the cage. No spraying. But as I jiggled the cage trying to latch it open without being able to see what I was doing, it sprayed. The smell that close and fresh made me gag and I almost threw up. After I let the skunk go, I threw the blanket on the burn pile and lit it on fire. It's all on video and it's hysterical to watch.

I was luckier than you. The trap was set for racoons, and I had got quite a few that year on my grandmas back steps. I threw a blanket over the skunk, picked it up, and carried it about 40 yards. When I picked it up, it panicked and started scurrying around in circles. I thought it was all over, but no spray. I set it down away from the house, my heart almost beating its way through my sternum, and used a fishing pole to open the trap from a distance. The skunk ran about 10 yards, stopped, turned and looked at me almost as if it was thanking me, and ran off. I was sweating a lot, but it wasn't hot outside.

It sounds like your cat has a good taste in owners. Mine tolerates me pretty well, lol

Since we're on pets, took this one yesterday. Usually the cat's not too crazy about the dog being so close, but the smell of the wild won out.
