I'm glad you let it go rather than killed it.

Run of the mill speckled king snake. Good pets if you're into keeping snakes as pets. I'm not.

I am a snake person myself. My daughter owns a corn snake and I own a Columbian Rainbow Boa.

I don't have a problem with snakes. If I find a venomous one too close to the house and consider it a safety risk (my kid and the neighbor kids play outside all the time), I'll kill it if I can't relocate it.

Non venomous snakes, I leave alone. I don't have any mice around here either....

I just don't want one as a pet. Nor do I want a lizard, turtle, hermit crabs, spiders, scorpions, or any other not naturally domesticated critters. Find a snake that will do tricks, follow basic commands, and come when it's called, I'll change my mind! I just have my opinions about leaving wild things wild.

I'm really considering trading my 1911 for this nickel 4" model 29-2. The woman had a deal in the works, but it fell through.

But...
I have the fancy holster and mag pouch, extra mags, have put some work into my gun, TWW has some super nice grips for me, and I have 400 rounds.

This lady has the gun, pachmyer grips, and less than a full 50 round box.

It would be a pretty uneven trade for me, accessory wise.

If I had another 1911, I would trade her gun for gun and keep my extras. I guess I still could, but I would have no use for my accessories without a 1911 to pair them with.

Decisions, decisions...

Plus, I feel that my GI 1911 is about the max that I can comfortably carry, and it IS my carry gun. Some of the anti OC crowd already accuse me of compensating (ha! Like I even need to), but even I would feel like I'm compensating while carrying a 29...

Ammo cost at my LGS is double for .44 mag versus .45 ACP. I would have to track down a new holster...
Speed loaders or strips...
And with the cost of ammo, reloading would be an absolute must for my broke ass, and that would require another upfront investment...
