Issued to me in July of 1983 in Fort Sill, OK, this old duffel bag has crossed the Atlantic at least 40 times. Mine has taken on a color that is recognizable like an old friend when I see it coming down the conveyor. It has a few small tears in it but it looks ready to do another 40 rounds. Not sure if I can hang with it

Cotton canvas? Nowadays, they're made of a cheap crap that I've torn by stuffing it. Probably a defect in that particular one, but still, it doesn't instill confidence.
