Yeah, must have been metal flake. I remember a pearl white that Cadillac had where they used real mother-of-pearl mixed into the factory paint. It was absolutely brilliant, but if you needed any paint it was totally impossible to match because the organic mother-of-pearl was inconsistent with synthetic paint pearl. I think this was in the late '60's or early '70's.

I had a mid 90's Cadillac that was pearl white. I was told they were still using the powdered mother of pearl in the paint. It sure looked like it. Even if it was synthetic, it was still absolutely beautiful.

they made a Cadillac Allante made from 1987-1993 that featured a pearl white paint. it was a three stage paint system. a white basecoat with a pearl clearcoat and then a regular clearcoat. very difficult to color match. i did a couple many years ago when i was doing paint and bodywork. you practically had to blend the paint on 75% of the car to get it to match. every car was different, because when they painted the cars in Italy, the white one were painted by hand not machine. i did one that gave me nightmares in trying to match the color, that i ended up painting the whole car!

My Mum & I used to stay in the guest house of the family friends who lived right on Big McKenzie Lake in Spooner, WI (the town barely exists, it's not far from Eau Claire & about 2&1/2-3 hrs from the Twin Cities.). It's beautiful there...I loved being able to wake up & fish from the dock, kayak, or take the jet ski out (the family friends are an older couple so the jet ski never gets used unless they have company). But the bugs, they flockto me. At one point I was literally in a blanket cocoon to escape the mosquitoes.

My Aunt & Uncle (2nd cousin, technically, but im much closer to them than any on my 14 aunts & uncles) on the pontoon before going out to watch fireworks on the lake:

Some FIERCELY bad weather when we got there. Tornados hit nearby towns, my Mum & I got caught on the dock when gale force winds & rain hit & had to make a run back for the cabin. Lost all power for 3 days:
