You must be kiddin' dango!

Back in my teens & 20's we'd go up to my buddies grandfather's cabin in Lycoming Co., along Pine Creek, we'd fish & hunt & drink & just generally raise some Cain.

One early Fall, I was headin' out to do some squirrel huntin' @ the cabin & there had been some high water the week before, and the creek had filled up alot of the side ditches, then subsided. As I was easin' along, a Northern Pike swam off from right in front of me in one of these side ditches. I almost instinctually swung on it with my 20 ga. and shot it on the fin. Took it home popped it in the oven and swore never to shoot any more N. Pike.

Here I thought I was the only Pennsyltuckian to have shot somethin' with fins and not feathers nor fur!

That was in Vietnam. The Montagnards were the indigenous people there and the Vietnamese hated them but we loved them because they knew the jungle like the back of their hand.
The drinking of the rice wine was part of the ceremony to join the tribe.

Here's what their villages looked like.

My bad.

You are right on the country, and they are called Balut.
Those don't look like Balut. I've had them and you can see the embryo, of the duck egg but the shells are still good.
I don't know what those are, they look like rotten eggs to me, perhaps he will tell us.

No chicks, they were burnt. A coworkers wife takes a lot of meds. She "fell asleep" while boiling them.
