I have been a silent witness
to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hour comes
when I am torn into strips and used as bandages
for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,
When I fly at half-mast to honor my soldiers,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms
of a grieving mother
at the graveside of her fallen son.
Thank you. I'm proud as heck. I usually kill my plants. I bought this orchid in full bloom last fall. I didn't think it would ever bloom again. Orchids must like being neglected.
That is pretty much how you get them to bloom. They like to be a bit rootbound- with those feeder roots growing out of the pot. Just make sure it has excellent drainage and plenty of orchid bark (they do not like soil). When it is done blooming I would re-pot it, then keep it watered and it should bloom again next year. They also sell some special orchid food that promotes blooming.
