THAT'S why I always liked the smell of apple and cherry pipe tobacco - I've always had a beard! So shaving affects taste.

I still say its a conspiracy.

The smell is still in my beard. I can't seem to get it out.
smoke a pipe and it'll cover up the smell!

Dad smoked a pipe our whole childhood. Was the cool thing if you were in college in the early 60s. He quit in the early 90s when the doctor told him his ear problems were from clenching his teeth so hard holding the pipe in his mouth. Seems like there is a lot more second hand smoke from a pipe. I smoke a cigar now and then, I quit cigarettes in the early 90s. I used to have a pipe but I don't know what happened to it. Pipes always smell way better than cigarettes or cigars.

Pretty much gave it up when I quit smoking cigarettes. I have smoked the occasional cigar though. I think a total of ten since I quit last November I think. Maybe October. Can't remember.

Beards are not mandatory, per se, but they are recommended.
I'll be quitting soon for enlistment. Maybe I'll give the pipe another go. And who knows, maybe the beard will follow.

Ah. After enlistment, you may find it very hard to tolerate a beard, or hair more than 3 inches long. It took me 6 years to stop taking the clippers to my head once a week, and stop shaving every morning. Even then, I still clipped my hair short every two weeks, and didn't go more than three days without shaving, until this last year.

A lot of changes happened for me last year. I regret none of it.

I can see that actually. I hate having long hair. I used to be a little hippy until I grew up some.
