Default pewter and aluminum

I have an old Bear Grizzly 45 LB recurve bow. I am trying to find out when it was made. According the the historian at Bear if the bow was made in 1963 it has a pewter Bear emblem. If the bow was made in 1960 thru 1962 it has an aluminum emblem. Does anyone know how to tell for certain if this emblem is pewter or aluminum?

Is it shiny like a aluminum can? or more sliver-colored?

After 40 years it's tarnished. I would like to sell the bow. A collector would expect 40 years of tarnish on the emblem.

Aluminum oxidizes and will have a white powdery layer on it.
Pewter tarnishes.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

press hard with your thumbnail. Pewter, I believe, is an alloy of lead and tin, and will leave an indent from your thumbnail. Aluminum will accept an indent from your thumbnail, but it's not nearly as easy and chances are your nail will break or bend first.
