my pet peeve? people who don't pay attention!
yesterday afternoon we rented a lift to a man and his wife to use to trim some trees. a little after 4pm his wife calls and says he's stuck up inthe basket about 30 feet above the ground and the lift won't lower. now i spent 10-15 minutes with them, explaining how it worked and the safety features like how to lower the lift if it lost power.
we take another lift with us and head out. well upon arriving, i get him lowered back to the ground and then statrt checking things out. first thing wrong, someone had turned the power switch from basket to ground control. so no wonder the lift wouldn't work from the basket controls. second, the battery power was low and it needed charging. this was all explained before he left with the lift earlier that afternoon. hmmmmm...........this is why i expalin these things.
well i knew his confidence would be shaken in the lift, so we went ahead and switched out lifts and get loaded up and head back to the shop with the lift. it's now 6:30pm and i'm ready to get home.
this is one of those normal occurences that happens every week at work. i explain things to customers about how equipment works or operates, or how to start them, or any other various things. people sometimes just don't listen. the worst ones are the ones that tell you thye have been operating that equipment for years and know everything about them. i expect a phone call will be coming shortly! and it does!
