By all accounts this years annual metorite shower will be the best in years. With the moon at less than a quarter, conditions are good barring clouds. They expect over 100 an hour after midnight saturday.

When my kids were 5 and 8 we made midnite snacks during the day for the show later. We watched from the backyard and it was a life memory for us. It's free also.

Will be watching from a chaise lounge on my back deck this year. Out in the country, very few lights to interfere with viewing.

Best view ever- had a flight from Boston to Virginia, flight rolled down the runway at 11:50 PM, and I was sitting on Port side of aircraft, window seat (facing the incoming shower) View from 39,000 ft is AMAZING!

I didn't know about it till now but my wife, son and I will watch from the tailgate of my truck in the backyard. I'm in southern Indiana on the Ohio river. Anybody know where in the sky it will appear?

I am off work Saturday night and Sunday night. I'm going to go side out in my backyard and see what I can see. There are no lights to interfere, the weather is supposed to be beautiful.

Thanks for the information.

Look towards the northeast, as the perseid constallation archs thru the sky it will become almost staight overhead. All this according to the local weatherman in Memphis.

In fact, I think I'll drag my bathtub out in the backyard that night and sit in the tub and watch the meteor shower.......you know, kind of like those stupid Cialis commercials.

No fences dividing our yards. It's always been a kind of unwritten rule. To be in my backyard is like being in a very, very big open area with a smattering of trees and beautiful landscaping. It's always been this way. I bought my house in 1986 and the seller mentioned the fence thing. Of course, he said do what you want.......but I never did fence it in.

Someday I'll post pictures of all our backyards that merge together. It's really rather nice.

Anyway, why would they peek at me when there will be a beautiful meteor shower? I have some goofy neighbors who would probably drag their tubs out there, too, and we'd all sit in a long line of bathtubs, holding hands from tub to tub and watching the meteor shower.

Due to roation of earth, greatest number of meteors after midnight. And yeah, as said, NE sky. One of the few skywatching events you do not need a scope or binocs.
