I remember taking Coke bottles back to the grocery store for my grandmother and getting to buy candy with the bottle deposit money.

I've also used 20 oz. plastic soda bottles to make noise makers with dry ice placed in them. They swell pretty big before they finally pop. Make a pretty good bang too. If one of those plastic bottles is about to go, it should be pretty obvious.

The deposits are still getting paid in a handful of states. NY is one of them, 5 cents per water, soda, and beer bottle or can. I kind of like not having to pay that deposit and the higher tax rate anymore.

Is it better to do the right thing for the wrong reason, or to do the wrong thing for the right reason? If you do the wrong thing for the right reason, is it still the wrong thing?
