I'm afraid you have me all wrong. I'm sure no one carries because they hope to use it. I simply mean that if you find yourself in a situation where you need to draw your weapon, the crook, offender, ect. may be "surprised" to find that someone is armed, there by halting his crime, possibly without having to kill him. Just him seeing the weapon may be enough where you could "hold" him there until the cops arrive.

Tony Soprano, have you ever been questioned by anyone while carrying in the open? I also live in Indiana, south of Corydon, and I was considering carrying like this. I have a CCW permit but sometimes it's such a pain in the ass to worry about hiding it. What town do you live in? Small world running into someone also from Indiana.

Default Open vs Concelaed

This has always been a tough debate, with both sides making good points. As I've said in another post, I'll open carry in/around my house or out fishing, but prefer the anonymity of concealed carry when around the general populace. I don't think my attitude is a good one since I'm only doing it for the comfort of the general populace, but that's where I'm comfortable.

Default Open Carry is our right here in Pa

Open Carry is our right here in Pa. However having a firearm visible could send the wrong message. The message that says "shoot me first" to the bad guy. I prefer surprise. And living in an open carry state, if someone does happen to notice it, I am not breaking any laws
Always carry never tell.

Since I work at a gun store, I carry open when I'm at work.
Anywhere else, I conceal.. for the same reasons that have been mentioned above, It keeps idiots from asking questions, it keeps me from being hassled by cops, and I do believe in the element of suprise.. an attacker, robber, whatever might think differently if he assumed you weren't armed.

My opinions on such topic is that..if you have the option do either or, then do what you want. Some people may target you, but if its legal, thats your choice. Thats similar to a chick showing alot of cleveage. I personally wouldnt want to open carry, but I'm not one to tell you what to do. I cant even buy or carry a handgun, but this is my take on the situation. Everyone has their own opinions on topics.
