I'd have to say if you are looking for 1 of each cartridge my guess is it will be well into the thousands

The video isn't that impressive but if you scroll down and read the comments one fellow states he's been collecting for 20yrs and has over 3000 cartridges

As for a display what were you thinking? Are you considering displaying them mounted with an info plate? Or are you just looking to heap them in a box? I could see something like this needing a huge building

Starting with the smallest production catridge, and not counting things like .14 Alton Jones RF, you would start with .17 Mach II, .17 HMR, 5mm Remington RF (back in production) 22 bb cap, 22 CB cap, 22 Short, 22 Long, 22 Long Rifle, .22 WRF, .22 WMRF- and then shift up to 25 acp, 32 s&w, 32 Short colt, .32 acp, 380, 9mm- and then it starts getting hairy. I would suggest you pick a venue- rilfe, shotgun, or handgun- or you will get overwhelmed. And go buy a copy of Cartridges of the World. It is a start. I have the wierd ones, like Lilliput, 5mm Clements, .25 Bacon & Bliss RF, etc.

Just getting examples of the various BULLET types can be a challenge- RN, Flat, wadcutter, semi-wadcutter, Hoxie, Hollowpoint, JSP, JHP, TMJ, metal capped, Westley Richards Man Stopper, Exploder, multi-part bullet, duplex, Riot control (.45 for Thompson) pistol shot loads. tracers, AP, blanks (blanks come in a dozen different varieties) simunition, gas, non-metal bullets- I even have a couple of S&W self lubricators (hollow core, filled w/ grease, brass plug at base, 4 small holes connecting grease cavity to outside.

See how it grows exponentially? PS- these are mainly shotshells- from 6mm to 4 gauge.

THAT is what is inside a 12 g Ferret CS shell. The payload is a barricade or windshield penetrating projectile- plastic, hollow, filled with liquid CS.

Don't be silly- the missles are over behind the door, not visible in that picture!

This would look nice in a box. Just needs a little cleaning up.

I have a couple of type setter's trays that work well for cartridge collections. You can find them at garage sales. I will have to take a few pics of my collection. I probably have 200 rounds from 17 to 25mm Bushmaster.
