Apparently, the upstanding young man in the photo is Johnny Wright, the Obamas' hairdresser.

Still, something about that photo just looks inappropriate and sleazy to me.

Apparently, FreeRepublic.com came under fire when some of its users referred to this as an image of "ghetto trash".

I'm sorry, but I kind of have to agree. It does look cheap and trashy.

If an 11 year old White girl (and daughter of a US President) was walking around a foreign country escorted by a 20-something year old male in baggy pants and a cut-off T-shirt, would it look any less dubious? To me, it wouldn't.

When you are the 1st family, you have to conduct yourself in a different light.
When in private let it hang out, but in public where opinions are drawn, 1st impressions mean everything especially when it comes to the 1st family of the USA.

Well, obama wanted to change how the world viewed the USA.

These are the type of non issue stories we should be rising above. This is just another petty little bitch that we throw out because we don't agree with what's going on. I didn't care when the Bush kids were partying and drinking underage, I didn't care with Prince Harry was drinking underage and crashing sports cars and I don't care now. The kids of the rich & powerful people are ALWAYS going to be misbehaving.

Honestly, the kid is probably a spoiled brat anyways, given the way her parents behave, what did you expect her to be like? Especially away from home and in a forum country where "sex" is commonplace.

These incessant little non issue stories need to be ignored by all of us so that when a real isseu comes up, it gets the attention it deserves, and doesn't sound like another squeak from another rusty hinge...

Guiding the tone and direction of the forum is fine and acceptable. Suggesting the ways in which membership should be thinking is not.
That is akin to the "under-the-thumb" rule which demands obedience from subjects, much like that which we are all rebelling against.

genie - Look, we have NEVER seen eye to eye on any issue. With that I was willing to let you post away and not get involved.

Having said that - keep your diatribe to yourself.

This forum has SEVERAL members that have opinions that are not in line with what the website would like to project to any number of "visitors" each and every day.

The members here need to hold themselves to a higher caliber than that of the Left. We need to dismiss stupid issues like this, because the more we play up the "little issues" the more we dilute the complaint pool.

Save your disagreements for what is MORE IMPORTANT.

Now, if you disagree with that, and want to see the forum having post after post of racist, Left attracting posts, then feel free to carry on.

We will see what the admin has to say about what is, and what is not, appropriate on THIS forum.

I would like to interject something here. This is an eleven year old child we are speaking of. She is not being sleazy or trashy by wearing shorts & a t-shirt. It is typical summer dress for children. There is also nothing inherently wrong with a female minor being escorted by a friend of her family.

She is just a kid, and should not even be on anyone's sexual radar. Making comments about her as though she was somehow being provactative could be construed as betraying unsavory thoughts on the part of the maker.

Also, as a child, she is not really fair game for other snide remarks. I personally would not lower myself to attack a politician I don't like by trying to smear his family. I agree with Dillinger that this is a non-issue. I would say a tempest in a teapot, but that would be overstating it.

....And why anyone would try to bring race into this is beyond me. It's totally unaceptable.
