The NRA sent me money....

Looks like the NRA is making a push to recruit lifetime members. I received a "check" in the mail for $400 towards a life membership. Twenty five bucks a quarter for six years and then you're made a life member. Is it worth it? I'm considering it....

Lobbyists are part of what is wrong with this country. At least they're lobbying for a good cause.

Their may be members advantages with life membership. More insurance? You may not use them unless you are more of a high roller so to speak. My train club offers life. 30 years ago I should have bought it as I am still a member paying dues. Depending on your age it could pay for itself. The down side is it gives them lots of influx of cash one time only. 50 years later they still have to pay to send you all the magazines and other junk. AARP is another. Its cheap. A couple of times I got a discount at a motel that pretty much covered the tax on the room. But the bombard you with offers to buy all kinds of insurance and other stuff where they really do make their money. They do good work lobbying for senior citizens issues. Bob

I heard that about AARP many years ago - but when I switched my car insurance to their plan (which is actually The Hartford Ins. Co. - nothing to do with AARP) my premium was cut in half! Can't argue with that...

Aarp

I am not now a member of AARP. I never heard they support anti gun lobbyist. I guess if that is true I am not sure I would want them to spend my dues that way. I tried many times for better car insurance. Never found the savings plus I get a discount on my home owners. Michigan is a no-fault state and car insurance is just high. Somebody has to pay for Detroit?
