Default This is not an important day for most people, but for me it is

40 years ago today I was off to basic training in the U.S. Army. It sure seems like yesterday to me. Where did time go?

I'm not far behind you as October 10, 2012 will be 40 years since for me.

Hard to believe sometimes that I've been retired for 18 years...

My daughter's reporting date to begin basic at Ft Jackson was:

September 11, 2001

Things got a bit hectic that day (I was in Finland on a business trip) and she actually began 2 days later...

I hear ya brother.. You're both proud that they're chosing to serve and scared because of current world events.. That was a hell of a time to be going in..

I sometimes forget my birthday, but the enlistment date stays at the forefront.
