It could've been a plywood fake they just dropped into the sea to move the "research money" to other less PC uses. (Independence Day "do you really think they pay $1000 for a toilet")

Dog it is not just the tech of the scramjet they are testing. It it the whole testbed as well. No one knows what really happens with control surfaces of a plane at that speed.

I remember my father telling me of running into someone he hadn't seen since his very early years in the Air Force. By this time they were both LtC's. The other officer wound up working in some "black" projects. All he would say was anything the Air Force lets you know about, they are flying something somewhere 20 years more advanced.

You are correct! Like the laser and ultra sonic weapons the US has that are not there! I only wish I could see and fire some of them. I have seen and used military lasers that if they hit a person in the eyes they are blinded for LIFE! Yes LIFE! "SCARRY!"  But the new test flight went up in peices! But you can bet they learned from it. If they perfect it that will make our weaponry far superior to any other country in the world.
