When i was a deputy I heard dozens of excuses why my K9 alerted on their vehicle. One of my favorites was " the dog alerted because my wife/girlfriend is on her period".

The odor from drugs will stay inside a vehicle quite a while even after the drugs have been taken out. Ive found alot of drugs inside vehicles and sometimes they had already been taken out but the odor was still present. Its always a good morale boost for you and the K9 whenever you get a good bust :-)

I was never told if they could, i was just told which one to use. When i worked at the prison the first time,we had 2 dogs on the SRT,one shepard and one belgian. The shepard used czech commands and the belgian used german.
