I think it would be harder to break into than a plastic one. I realize that if someone wants in, they will get in. But it is stronger than the original.

I like that,it's always nice to reuse something that's not being used. Great idea and job Rick.

Thanks everybody. This has been a fun project. We still have a ways to go. But it is totally drivable. I take it to the range every now and then. I have driven it to work a few times too. Once I picked Daniel up from school with. His friend came over to check it out. He thought it was cool too.

We are having trouble getting Daniel the class to be able to get his permit. The class that is in our area is being redone. They keep cancelling on us. I have registered him twice. Both times they cancelled. He could end up having to wait until he is 16 to get his permit. The nearest class is 254 miles away!

Just a suggestion but you might try contacting some of the home-school groups in your state. I know in California you can do the driver education stuff with your own kid as long as you cover all of the required material. If they allow it in California I can't see why they wouldn't offer it there.

I can't believe it. I just found him a class on May 1st. I signed him up. It was only $39.

Personally i think any father that doesn't get their kids behind the wheel by the age of 10 is shirking their duty as a parent! Seriously, kids become better drivers the earlier they are exposed to it. This always works better if you have a beat up old Jeep to start them off in.
