Just found this thread- great project indeed! We looked at two CJ6s but ended up buying a '46 CJ2A a few years ago. My youngest son picked up a '42 GPW a year ago and is doing a ground-up frame-off restoration on it by himself (he doesn't want my help ) and my oldest son has a '90 Bronco he is building into a bad ass rockcrawler and a '72 Bronco he is building into his daily driver. Just got back from picking up a Dana 20 T-Case for the '72 a few minutes ago. Both boys plan on never selling these first builds.

I is really cold here. I figured the bikini top was not really a winter top. So I made a full soft top and doors. Yea I know it is a little red neck looking. But I still think it is cool. And it is a lot warmer in the winter. We will still use the bikini top most of the year.

Very nice! Doesn't look like redneck engineering to me.

I agree with you on the camo thing. I am thinking about getting a second color of vinyl to sew a few random shapes here and there. But it will be a while. This is really hard work dragging that big roof through my wife's sewing machine.

I have been looking for a glove box for the jeep for a while. They have plastic ones available on line for about $30. But I hate putting plastic in a car if I can use metal. I was thinking about it and just started looking around the garage. I spotted an orange colored something or other under my bench. I dug it out and found it was a 50 cal ammo can that my wife had bought at a yard sale a few years ago. All of my other cans are the original green. I took a saw to it and drilled a few holes. Now we have a 50 cal ammo can for a glove box. Daniel likes it too. That is all that matters.

Neat idea. And it seems like it works. Cool.
