Default A New Civil War is starting, which gun will you take?

SCENARIO:
Post Civil War 2. The world is in chaos. The government has collapsed. The cities are a wasteland. Supply lines have been cut, and your family has no way to buy food. You need to leave your home, and journey South where you know it is safe. There are many thousands of miles to cover and it is extremely dangerous. You can't trust anybody but yourself.

You can only take 1 gun. Suppose the world's arsenal is available to you. What gun will you take, and why?

If I could have only firearm it would be a 12 gauge shotgun.

The reasons are as follows:

1) A shotgun could be used for self defense.

2) A shotgun could be used to bag small game.

3) A shotgun can be used with slugs for big game (like deer).

4) A shotgun can be used with special ammo like double slugs, door breechers, tear gas, etc

Just my 2 pennies.

I good pump action shotgun for reasons that have already been said.

If this was in the real world and everything was that bad I would break the rules and also carry a 1911 or a Glock. I haven't decided on which one I like more yet.

One gun? Yeah right Either a 10/22 or a good pump shotty. Either way I'll have my GP100 on my hip.
