Need help on AR-15 magazine choice for gift
OK, I want to give my nephew's future wife some AR magazines for Christmas.
I wanted the C products ones off the Aim Surplus website, but they sold out. C Products AR15/M16 30rd .223/5.56 Mag w/ Anti-tilt follower Black Finish I should've gone ahead and ordered when a fellow forumite posted that link a month ago, D'oh!
On another website, i found two similar options from C products: aluminum 30 round 30 round aluminum magazine with orange follower and steel 30 round 20 round stainless steel magazine with orange follower .
Which would an AR chick want? I notice the steel one is marked "EMC" for some mag-retention feature i saw mentioned. I know she wants it in black & 5.56/.223, but i'm not sure if she would rather have steel or aluminum. I would think steel, but i don't have an AR and am wondering if there is something favored about aluminum magazines. She did go through basic training for the National Guard, i believe, but i haven't heard "mil spec" mentioned.
Lil hep please.

I hear you on the plastic love, but these are for a chick, a rather particular chick.
So, of these two, which is preferable, aluminum or steel? That is the extent of my available choices, i bleve.

If you figure women out, let me know & write a best-selling book "Women for Men". I'm pushing 40, and gave up on figuring them out years ago. Nowadays, i just try to get along with them well enough not to get cut.

I wish I hadn't lost my hard-drive on my personal laptop, I had a ton of links for just this occassion.
I believe I bought a box of the C Products ones and they work great.
The aluminum ones will be fine, but the anti-tilt follower is a key depending on the weapon in question. Both my AR's run like a champ with the anti-tilts, so that is what I buy.
I have "read" horror stories on the Interwebz about people having expensive SUR's having to run ones without the anti tilt for blah, blah, blah reason. I have never confirmed or witnesses this.
Best of luck!

I have 6 C-Products mags, 1 - 10 rnd that came with my M&P-15 and the others (30 round) I bought, no problems with any of them, honestly don't even know if they are steel or Al.......could someone educate me as to the functional difference? or why I would want plastic over metal?

Because plastic is taking over the world.
Presumably weight if you packing 80 of them escaping the hordes. The PMAG fans will tell you they were redesigned from the ground up and are an all together superior magazine.
If I was looking for all together superior, I would follow Cane's lead and buy his $120/piece AR mags.

Yeah, the nephew hasn't knocked her up or married her yet, though.
