Whew. When I first read your reply, I thought you said you were in fear for your WIFE, and my first thought was just how hairy is that gal . . .

I'd be afraid the .380 would tear up too much meat.

I'd rather capture one live. Take him on tour and make millions.

That, or go live with them. Not even the government would find ya. Ya might get in good enough with them that ya could take one for your bride.

There is a difference of opinion among my friends and myself as to what is the proper caliber and gun for a Bigfoot? Do I load up a feeder with beef jerky and set up in a blind and wait for old' 'squach to show up, or I injun up and track him through the woods, searching for big feet prints and large piles of primate scat?

Bigfoot is . . .well, big. And fast. Do I need a weapon that's heavy and powerful, or compact and quick?

I'm giving serious thought to a Marlin lever action in 45-70. As the woods are dark and dense, I doubt I'll get a shot in at over 75 yards, and at that range the 45-70 should have as much knockdown power as just about any other caliber around, yet it is a relatively light and compact weapon. One of my buddies is scoffing at me for considering using such and outdated weapon, and maintains that an AR-15 is a better choice, due to the fact it has a higher ammo capacity and can be fired quicker than the heavy caliber lever action. Another likes the lever action idea, but maintains that a 30-30 is sufficiently powerful to take down a squach, and the lighter recoil will mean that it'll be faster to get back on target for subsequent shots. Still another maintains that all he's taking is his 9mm Glock, as modern ammo has made the 9mm capable of killing anything that walks on the North American continent.

Besides the Marlin 45-70, I'm also considering a Savage 99 in .300 Savage. The gun is relative lightweight, moderate recoil, yet a caliber that comes almost equals the 30-06 in performance.

Anybody out there have any experience with Bigfoot hunting and can give me some tips?
Rrrright !.......................

The "Big Foot" families moved to South America many years ago. There are none left in North America. It is a known fact that these Wolly gypsys found D.B. Cooper and all his loot.

[For all you young'ins Google D.B. Cooper]
