Default Need advice on caliber/gun for Bigfoot

Myself and a couple of buddies are planning a trip to . . . well, let's just say somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Somewhere deep in the mostly unexplored forests of that area, where my next trophy awaits . . . a sasquatch. Yep, I'm gonna bag Bigfoot. Some taxidermist is gonna have a good month.

There is a difference of opinion among my friends and myself as to what is the proper caliber and gun for a Bigfoot? Do I load up a feeder with beef jerky and set up in a blind and wait for old' 'squach to show up, or I injun up and track him through the woods, searching for big feet prints and large piles of primate scat?

Bigfoot is . . .well, big. And fast. Do I need a weapon that's heavy and powerful, or compact and quick?

I'm giving serious thought to a Marlin lever action in 45-70. As the woods are dark and dense, I doubt I'll get a shot in at over 75 yards, and at that range the 45-70 should have as much knockdown power as just about any other caliber around, yet it is a relatively light and compact weapon. One of my buddies is scoffing at me for considering using such and outdated weapon, and maintains that an AR-15 is a better choice, due to the fact it has a higher ammo capacity and can be fired quicker than the heavy caliber lever action. Another likes the lever action idea, but maintains that a 30-30 is sufficiently powerful to take down a squach, and the lighter recoil will mean that it'll be faster to get back on target for subsequent shots. Still another maintains that all he's taking is his 9mm Glock, as modern ammo has made the 9mm capable of killing anything that walks on the North American continent.

Besides the Marlin 45-70, I'm also considering a Savage 99 in .300 Savage. The gun is relative lightweight, moderate recoil, yet a caliber that comes almost equals the 30-06 in performance.

Anybody out there have any experience with Bigfoot hunting and can give me some tips?

Indian tribes teach the reason we never see bones of bigfoot, is spirits break bones, but don't have any. You walk into his jungle, to do him harm, better make your peace with family and friends before you go.

If you saw a cow in a farmers field, would you shoot it, just cause?

If you saw a bird in your backyard, would you shoot it just cause?

Karma my friend, karma.

The Act

There were the roses, in the rain.

Don't cut them, I pleaded.

They won't last, she said

But they're so beautiful

Where they are.

Agh, we were all beautiful once, she said

and cut them and gave them to me

in my hand.

I hope you bag one TX, it'd put a stop to all the controversy. However I don't think you will, cause there isn't any such critter. I've said it before, why is it everyone has a camera that will take crystal clear pictures of everything but big foot and ufo's? Good luck.
