National Geographic Ch running a 2 hour event on no Grid for 10 days

I am posting this here for all to see. This is more informative on what National Geographic Channel is running a two hour documentary on what would happen if the lights out for 10 days, the show will be airing on the 27 October 2013 @ 2100 hours (9:00 p.m.) Eastern Standard Time.

It also, repeats at 2300 hours (11:00 p.m.) Eastern Standard Time. So missing the Walking Dead is out of the question.

Quote:

American Blackout imagines the story of a national power failure in the United States caused by a cyber attack — told in real time, over 10 days, by those who kept filming on cameras and phones. You'll learn what it means to be absolutely powerless. Gritty, visceral and totally immersive, see what it might take to survive from day one, and who would be left standing when the lights come back on.

Oh
My
God

The lights are out.
The phone is out.
The internet is out.

We are all going to die.

Puh-LEEZE! Hurricane left most of my county with no power for 8 days. I actually got some work done.

Grandparents did not have electrical service until I was almost a teen ager. They raised 15 children.

Is the grid convenient? It damned sure is. Would much rather take a hot shower than draw water from the well by hand, carry it in the house, heat it on the stove, and bath in a basin.

Would much rather toss dirty clothes in the Maytag than scrub them on a washboard.

Would much rather turn up the thermostat than saw, split, haul, stack wood and feed the stove.

But convenience is not "who is left standing..." I get the feeling that the folks that dream up these shows do not get far off the sidewalk.
