Default My wife the art teacher

My wife is beside me as I type and she stated that the memebers of the forum need to know the difference between a tint, a tone and a shade. "You might be on a gameshow and win a million and then you would owe her some $$."

a tint = any color mixed with white

a tone = a color mixed with a neutral

a shade = a color mixed with black

She also said that if you don't know what the primary colors are she will come to your house and smack you in the head.

Benning, did you learn anything?

Spittinfire, I am astounded. And you from down Home and all.

Everyone here in the South knows a shade is one of them sperrits that hangs around the graveyards at night.....And a tone is when you try to make amends for somethin' you got blamed for.....

And we are not even gonna talk about pigments if'n y'all pull out that horrible vinegar based sauce.......

That's funny.... I thought white WAS neutral.
And black is power.
Green for ground.

Together you get 110 volts....

White is only a neutral is you have a red or blue or any other hot wire. Otherwise white is a ground.
But that's only in a 120/240 single phase. In some three phase systems, white could be a hot wire. So be careful there.
Green is equipment ground, chassis ground, bonding wire, etc. It is never a ground. (But I know what you're saying.)

This is all too much for me. I'm still trying to figure out crayons.
