if you will notice, most of the major body lines and features of the 1963 Mustang made it to the 1964 1/2 model. roof line, trunk and hood length are very similar.

The 62 not only wasnt a hit because of its looks but it also had an over heating problem due to it not haveing much of a grill similar to the known roadrunner

most of the car makers build concept cars as a styling excercise, and many times have no intentions of putting them into production. you would be suprised at how many concept or prototypes never even make it into production. very few. many times they are used to test new ideas or to gauge consumer response to them. a lot of times, they would be too expensive to build and sell or may not even be practical due to manufactoring costs or logistics.

Exactly...

when Dodge said "we're gonna re-make the charger" and they showed us this:

everyone in the Mopar hobby was excited and could NOT wait for it to come out. it was sexy. it was economical (had the 4.7L V8 that ended up in the trucks a few years later) and it had the 4 doors that the "market" said they wanted.

What we got was this:

What a let down!

the production version of the Charger isn't bad, but the concept version is way better! that's pretty sharp for a four door car! i'd drive it!
