He was joking. I'm sure he dotes over his wife just as you and I do ours.

I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it.

Late to the game here. Popcorn is in the nuker.

So if you let it go, it's set a precedent for future hires. #1 reason to set the example and fight the fight.

#2 as a parent of a kid with some special needs, I want the person that's going to do the best job. That may be the new grad that's fired up and has a natural talent, or the older person with more experience. I've seen the older person who's burned out and doesn't do their job well and the new grad that kicks a$$. It gets back to the argument of hiring the most qualified person, sometimes they are the cheapest, usually they aren't.

#3 as a tax payer whether in or out of your district, the school districts are getting unfairly screwed on Special Ed reimbursement, so it's an underfunded mandate that bleeds districts money. It's a place where every district does whatever it can cut costs. Fighting for better gov't funding is a whole other battle that may be the root cause of what your wife is going through.

Whether your wife wants the job or not, the #1 reason above is the only reason to pursue this.

I agree. Who would you rather have as an employee? The one who NEEDS A job, or the one who WANTS THIS job?

Also coming in late to the game. Sorry about your wife's situation. It doesn't sound fun.

I'm not trying to be a pr*ck or anything but "given the opportunity" makes it sound like there's a loophole. It sounds like an opportunity is not the same as a guarantee of being hired. If she applied to the position, which I believe I read she did, she was "given the opportunity," regardless of if she was hired.

Am I totally off the mark here, or did I miss something?

For the record, I'm all about hiring those who are the most qualified. Sounds like the Missus is the one. I'm also all for fighting Injustice. (Can I be a musketeer thing too?) I'm just trying to point out what I see as a potential flaw in the wording. I hope I'm wrong.

Ah, the old left wing, use the fine points of language and lawyism thing to screw people! I believe we have a winner. With the proper wording ANYTHING is possible, fair and legal. Words have actual meanings. I am no grammar Nazi, but does anyone remember Bill Clinton. "I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky". In other words, ...... Some thongs don't count.

Beware the lawyers, and especially the Ivy League scum bags.

Sloppy Out. End of rant.

I will argue that she was not given the opportunity, she took it by applying. They should have offered her the position before and instead of advertising the vacancy.

I agree. And don't get me wrong, I don't like the reasoning I was using. But its just the thought that came to my mind and I wanted to give you more to think about.

Just keep in mind the your definition of the word opportunity and theirs may differ. The institutional lefties are tricky game. You must be a clever and efficient hunter to defeat them.
