How accessible is the School Board? When I was on our Board I made myself as accessible as possible and was responsive to people's concerns. write an email to all Board members questioning what happened and detailing out your concerns (they may very well be unaware of some of those details- you do not want them to miss anything you know). Include the fact that your wife does not want you to intervene on her behalf and request that they keep your name out of it. If they have any integrity at all they will honor this request. Your wife may figure it out anyhow but I would let the chips fall.

I cannot tell you how many times a District resident would send me a letter or email anonymously and not request or reference to specific actions that they expected. There are some cases where if the concern is not in writing and signed then the Board can't do anything. Personnel matters fall into this category in CA (and probably all states due to the Brown act.)

I understand, but look at it from their perspective. They cannot play a partial hand. You either have to deal them in or leave the game. There were some cases where I could (especially as Board President) work within the rules and investigate a concern without the formal BS, but those situations required a great deal of discretion as if you screw up it is a whole lot of legal trouble that can be quite costly. It is important to not let your ego get in the way of what is right.

Mac, have not seen the ages of your wife and the other party- however, if you wife is older- ESPECIALLY if she is over 40- and the other party is not- she may have a violation of ADEA- Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Contact the EEOC. These complaints are investigated by the US Justice Dept. If they are in violation, DoJ files the lawsuit for damages and employment.

Both candidates are white women and about the same age. Neither is pregnant or disabled. Not sure about religion.
