Alas, C.B. use has declined with the increase of cell phone use. It's not as convenient to call the cops now. It was nice to be able to pick up the handset and talk directly to the cops (their were always 2-3 on the bridge. I was considering painting "kill" markings on my vehicle for all the DUI's and other dangerous drivers I turned in.
I thought channel 9 was the police channel?
And you're not kiddin about the causeway being a boring ride.

It's not like it was my intent to make her wreck. I was trying to call her attention back to where it belongs: the road. I will say I did keep driving. It wouldn't have been feasible to jump across traffic and give assistance even had I wanted to, and honestly, I didn't want to.
We have a "no driver on phone" rule in our family. If her phone rings in the car I answer it!!

The Causeway had it's own channel.

I figured out that I drove that bridge over 7000 times during the 21 years I commuted to N.O.

You know, most of the phones capable of texting also have GPS. Why can't the phone companies just disable the text function if the phone is moving faster than 10 miles an hour? Sure, it might inconvenience a passenger, but trust me, they are not so almighty important that they need to stay in touch 24/7.

I didn't want to flag it in case the black helicopter gang was watching. Oh, wait. That would be illegal, too. </sarcasm>
